Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp Down Globally – What’s the reason behind this outage?

Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp Down – What’s the reason and solutions are discussed here. Social media sites are down today for the longest time that we have ever noticed. On Monday evening, Facebook, Whatsapp, and Instagram went down simultaneously. Users around the globe are reporting that they can not access Facebook, Whatsapp, and Instagram from their devices. All these apps are owned by Facebook and they share the same server infrastructure.

Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp Down

On the website of Facebook, It is written that they are fixing this issue and we are hoping that this issue will be resolved really soon. The message also shows the DNS error. DNS stands for domain name system and it takes the users from the web URL to their destination website.

At different times, many big websites have been down for several hours. Today this case is with all Social media websites that are owned by Facebook.

Whatsapp team tweeted to explain the problem

Why Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp are not working?

In July month, the same happened with Akamai Technologies INC which affected many websites. On Twitter, the official account of Whatsapp acknowledged that all three social media sites are facing some technical issues and are down for now. We have embedded the tweet in this article below

Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp Server down

The most common reason behind such downtime is generally related to the server problem. These three platforms have over a billion users combined and such numbers need high memory Servers. It can be the case that something has happened to the servers at Facebook which has caused this downtime.
Many outages get resolved fairly quickly.

They are often localized too, with some people unable to open a website that can be viewed in another country. This outage, however, was global and affected all of Facebook's many spin-offs.

The length of time it was off-grid is also unusual. There were reports of "mayhem" in Facebook headquarters, as technicians scrambled to fix the problem.

Interesting too that the outage hampered Facebook's ability to tackle the crash - bringing down internal tools needed to remedy the problem. It should also be said that Facebook's statement is carefully written. It doesn't rule out foul play.

The week had already started off badly - after the whistleblower in the "Facebook Files" revelations revealed herself on Sunday.

But a bad week has become a terrible one for the social network.
